Steven Nyman, one of People Water’s riders, takes first from the 39th start in Val Gardena, Italy for the win in the downhill cup. This Saturday (December 15, 2012), Nyman triumphed for a second time winning the Alpine World Cup Downhill on skis. In 2006 Nyman was awarded the same title but has since gone through many hardships. His brother Blake Nyman comments on his brother’s dedication to skiing, “I’ve watched my brother go from being the best in the world to battle years of injuries. Broken bones, torn Achilles, back problems, knee problems. He’s endured a lot. But it’s never caused him to lose sight of his goals, dreams and knowing what he’s capable of. There is nothing I admire more than seeing someone fight and give everything they’ve got to achieve greatness. Today was a beautiful day. My brother once again became the best in the world. He’s a champion, literally and figuratively.”

The weather had delayed the race by 2 hours, making the competition much more complicated.  Due to the storm and low visibility the race started lower and around half a minute was cut.  After having missed the whole season of 2012 because of a torn Achilles, Nyman showed his perseverance and love for skiing.  People Water looks up to his dedication and willing to push forward, as well as overcoming overwhelming barriers.  It is people like Nyman that inspire us to continue doing what we do and reach out to as many people as we can.   The New York Times reports, “No man had won a downhill with such a high start number since Fritz Stribl wore No. 43 in Val d’Isère, France, in 1996.”  Believing is something that Steven feels strongly in.  Having belief in yourself and what you are doing, will now be a motto that we live by.  Nyman has inspired us and we are proud to be represented by him.
